He shoots, he scores!!!

Had a fabulous day today with my son, Elijah. He was in a hockey tournament at 8 Rinks. The Thunderbird Vipers did a great job. They only had 11 players and had to double shift. My boy plays D and he had some spectacular break aways. He scored in the first game and had an assist on a beautiful goal in the second. He is a big kid and it was very funny to watch him stick handle the puck down the ice while shrugging off everyone on the other team that could keep up with him; and anyone who tried to check him ended up spawled on the ice while he didn't even break his stride. They lost every game, but were sportsmen through and through; they played their heart out. Way to go Vipers!!!!
We had an extra special treat between games. As we came back into the building after a little snack we saw some "big kids" playing on one of the sheets. "Let's watch these guys for a bit", I say to my son. We stop to watch. Wow, they are REALLY big. A white jersey with 19 on the helmut flies past me.
"Eli, doesn't that look like Markus Naslund?"
"It is Markus Naslund!!!!" my son informs me.
The Canucks are practicing!!!! It was so cool. We watched the whole team practice: Trevvy baby, Toddy, Carter, the Sedin Twins, Auld......
So great. What an unexpected treat. They looked awesome. The New Years Eve game should be fantastic.

This was fun to read - except that it was hard to read! My aging eyes are having trouble with your colour combos . . . .
