Many Years to Mitzi and Todd

This is the whole family celebrating my brother's wedding. It was a beautiful day. All four of my children were in the wedding party. I made the girl's dresses. They seemed to turn out well. They did a fabulous job: Margaret and Esme were flower girls, Niko was the ring bearer and Elijah was the junior groom's man. I did a reading at the wedding and my husband said the prayer before dinner. We are all very tired now! I was shocked by how grown up Elijah looked standing at the front of the church. He really is becoming a man. I am not sure I am ready for that. Esme loves her new aunt and I can tell that Mitzi has a big influence on her...during the dance at the reception Mitzi and Esme were shaking up the dance floor! We couldn't get Esme to leave to go to bed.
The little ones love running around and playing with all of the other kids--there were tons of them. I had to keep a very watchful eye on them; the lake had ALLIGATORS in it.
I am not kidding......I don't know about these folks in Florida.

This is the present I made for my brother and sister in law. It is a duvet cover, 2 sets of pillow cases and various pillows. I think that they really liked it. My house was chaos before we left: me working and trying to sew all this and the flower girl dresses!

I will try and post some pictures of the rest of our holiday soon.

Beautiful sewing, Kim! I truly am amazed at how you found the time! I still have yet to sew a baby quilt even though my mom provided all the materials and a book to help me along. I am so envious of your trip to the Bahamas. I have never been and all my siblings are already married. :) Blessings

Ha! This is funny… you all get to read Kim’s modest writings… in actuality (or as Pat Rigden would describe “coming from a full of emotion Italian Girl”) everything was truly awesome!!!! I married the most amazing man, Mr. Todd Rigden, and couldn’t have asked for a smidgen more. Niko was live entertainment for the wedding of 130 as he stole the show with his Break Dancing at the reception and his comments to the wedding audience of “when the Pastor says for them to kiss… say YUCK!”. The girls dresses where perfect, adorned with the theme color ribbon and made of what looked of silk organza ….and so where they, perfect that is. Esme is deffinately my new best friend; she is silly and smart; i love it. And Elijah… Look at him! Everyone ewed and awed as he escorted 2 Jr. Bridesmaids… one on each arm! Having Chris say the blessing was my honor and Kim Rigden was way more than hot… smoke’n hot. Taking her stand at the podium in her beautiful red party dress, the words reamed out touching everyone making the whole ceremony complete. She wrote:
About Love

There have been a great many things written and spoken about love
We recognized lines from poetry and books and movies:
-How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. (Elizabeth Barret browning)
-Grow old along with me the best is yet to be (Robert Browning)
-You had me at hello (Jerry Maguire)
-You were born to be my baby And baby, I was made to be your man (Bon Jovi)

I have come across a reading that may not be so easily recognized, but holds a great deal of truth about love and marriage. It is called Marriage Transforms by Alexander Elchaninov
Marriage is a revelation and a mystery. We see in it the complete transformation of a human being, the expansion of his and her personality, a fresh vision and a new perception of life, and through it a rebirth into the world in a new plenitude.
Our modern individualism creates special difficulties in married life. To overcome them, a conscious effort on both sides is necessary, in order to build up the marriage and make it a "walking in the presence of God." …And there is something further, something which may appear to be the simplest thing of all, but which is nevertheless the most difficult to achieve—a firm intention to allow each partner to preserve his or her proper place in the marriage….Neither the man or the woman possesses absolute power over the other partner in the marriage….the highest wisdom in marriage is shown by giving full freedom to the person you love: for our human marriage is the counterpart of the marriage in heaven between Christ and the Church, where there is absolute freedom.

This sentiment is echoed in a more famous passage from 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

-Love is patient love is kind; love is not jealous or boastful;
it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;
it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never ends.
-Kimberly Rigden-Briscall

Now you tell me who’s a lucky girl? I am truly blessed to be a part of this amazing family,
Mrs. Mitzi Rigden

Ahem....so now y'all can see why I LOVE my new sister in law. She is fabulous. The wedding was the most beautiful I have ever seen. Mitzi is fresh gushing breath of Italian air in our reserved British family! Now if only we can get them to the west coast!

Hi mommakim! You left a comment on my blog and I just wanted to reply. Yes, I do go to SVOTS, I do know Robyn, and the women's dorm is awesome. If your husband graduated in June I might know him--I'm in my second year. Well, TTYL and take care!
